Wetland Habitat Restoration
“Keeping the water clean is what keeps this state beautiful and healthy.” – Ken Kesey
With support from an Upper Willamette Soil and Water Small Conservation Project Grant, the Kesey Farm Project is currently at work restoring the Farm’s wetland ecosystem using natural restoration techniques. The Farm’s wetland area (also known as “the swamp” and the infamous place where the original Further was once at rest) makes up a significant part of the Farm’s footprint and contains within it a fish-bearing waterway, “Pudding Creek”.
This initiative focuses on invasive species removal, diverse native vegetation planting, and improving biodiversity and water quality—vital for local wildlife and the overall health of the watershed.
We are working in partnership with the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council, Walama Restoration Project, and Trillium Nursery to return this landscape to ecological balance.
A lifelong conservationist, Ken Kesey cared deeply about Oregon’s landscapes and waterways, championing sustainable land practices and community collaboration.
Help us sustain this vital work and protect the wetlands and wildlife that make up this beautiful land.
